Insulting Holy Prophet (PBUH) does not count as freedom of expression, Putin says

Russian president Vladimir Putin

Putin has stated that insulting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) does not qualify as an expression of artistic freedom in Russia. Putin made a strong case for religious freedom and against human rights violations. Russian President Vladimir Putin retaliated against those who hurt Muslims' feelings.

Insults to the Prophet (PBUH) are a "violation of religious freedom and a violation of the sacred feelings of people who profess Islam," Putin said at his annual news conference on Thursday, according to the Russian news agency TASS.

Putin stated that while he admires the essence of freedom, no one has the right to violate the freedom of others.

Prime minister of Pakistan has also appreciated the saying of Russian president in a tweet.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has previously condemned Islamophobia.

The UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy has identified this as an emerging threat, as it increases the tendency of right-wing, xenophobic, and violent nationalists, extremists, and terrorist groups to target Muslims, according to the prime minister.

"We hope the Secretary-report General's will concentrate on the new terrorism threats posed by Islamophobes and right-wing extremists," the prime minister said.

"I request that the Secretary-General convene a global dialogue on combating the rise of Islamophobia." Our parallel efforts should be to promote interfaith harmony at the same time, and they should continue," he added.
