Johnny Depp victory chances against Amber Heard seem thin, claim legal experts

The ongoing defamation lawsuits between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are making headlines these days.

After weeks of accusations from both sides, the case will be decided on May 27 by seven jurors, followed by closing arguments from both sides' legal teams.

"The jury is going to determine damages for both the claim and the counterclaim," a source close to Heard's team told the New York Post recently.

Furthermore, they told the publication that jurors could decide not to award damages to either party.
It's worth noting that because this is a civil case, no one will face criminal charges or time in prison.

Johnny Depps chances:

Experts believe that Johnny Depp's victory over Amber Heard will be difficult.

According to The Washington Post, Depp's ongoing court proceedings are an uphill battle due to his celebrity.

"The First Amendment protects our rights to discuss matters of public concern, which arguably includes celebrities' lives in today's day and age," said Mitra Ahouraian, a California entertainment lawyer.

Experts added that defamation cases are difficult to win in general, especially when celebrities are involved. It is difficult to establish the defendant's "actual malice" (Heard).

"He has this additional burden that is difficult for him," Ahouraian explained.

Meanwhile, after an emotionally draining courtroom battle with Heard, Depp is vacationing in Europe.

"Johnny is taking a break in Europe."
