Russian president Vladimir Putin |
Putin has stated that insulting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) does not qualify as an expression of artistic freedom in Russia. Putin made a strong case for religious freedom and against human rights violations. Russian President Vladimir Putin retaliated against those who hurt Muslims' feelings.
Insults to the Prophet (PBUH) are a "violation of religious freedom and a violation of the sacred feelings of people who profess Islam," Putin said at his annual news conference on Thursday, according to the Russian news agency TASS.
Putin stated that while he admires the essence of freedom, no one has the right to violate the freedom of others.
Prime minister of Pakistan has also appreciated the saying of Russian president in a tweet.
I welcome President Putin's statement which reaffirms my message that insulting our Holy Prophet PBUH is not " freedom of expression". We Muslims, esp Muslim leaders, must spread this message to leaders of the non-Muslim world to counter Islamophobia. https://t.co/JUKKvRYBSx

Prime Minister Imran Khan has previously condemned Islamophobia.
The UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy has identified this as an emerging threat, as it increases the tendency of right-wing, xenophobic, and violent nationalists, extremists, and terrorist groups to target Muslims, according to the prime minister.
"Islamophobia is pernicious phenomena that we all need to collectively combat,"
